A transaction is a bill or invoice generated at the org side - either at outlets or online store. Considering the customer types, Capillary supports three types of transactions as mentioned in the following.

Regular or Sales Transactions

  • Loyalty Transactions: These are sales transactions made by loyalty customers in the org’s outlets or omnichannel portals. Regular transactions are considered for incentivization of points or coupons in the Capillary Loyalty system.
  • Non-loyalty Transactions: These are the transactions made by the non-loyalty customers in the org's outlet or omnichannel portals. As customers are not enrolled in the loyalty program, these transactions are not considered for loyalty incentivization. However, these would still be eligible for dynamic coupons based on the transaction rules.
  • Not-interested Transactions: These are sales transactions made by anonymous customers in the org's outlet or omnichannel portals. These transactions are considered for loyalty incentivization.  These types of transactions are considered as NOT_INTERESTED transactions in the Capillary system.

Again, a transaction made can be returned in case of any concerns. So, on the basis of `return`, a transaction is further divided into two types - return and exchange (mixed= return + purchase).

Return Transactions

These are the transactions that are returned by loyalty customers in the org's outlets or omnichannel portals. Return transactions are of types.

  • Return with Reference: These are the returns in which customers share the reference invoices (Previous sales invoice) against which they wanted to return transactions. There are three types of returns supported.

    1. Full return: A complete transaction is returned.

    2. Partial return: One or more line items of a transaction is returned.

    3. Amount return: The amount is refunded for a transaction returned.

  • For a loyalty return transaction, the points that are issued for the transaction will be reversed.
  • As loyalty points are not applicable for non-loyalty and not-interested transactions, points are not involved.
  • Return without Reference: Transaction returns for which customers did not share the reference invoice (Previous sales invoice) of transactions they wanted to return. These are also of three types.

    1. Full return: A complete transaction is returned.

    2. Partial Return: One or more line items of a transaction is returned.

    3. Amount return: The amount is refunded for a transaction returned.

  • For loyalty transactions, as no reference to the original transaction is provided, loyalty points will not be reversed.
  • For other transaction types, points are not applicable.

Mixed Transactions

These transactions involve returning one or more line items of a transaction and exchanging with new line items. This could be in the same transaction or with a new transaction number. In simple words, exchanging transaction items. In this case, the transaction amount should be the sum of all the regular line items present in that transaction.

  • Exchange with Reference: These are the mixed transactions with reference invoices (Previous sales invoice) against which line items are exchanged. A retail system can either allow a new invoice number or do it on the existing invoice number.

  • For a loyalty mixed transaction, the points that are issued for the transaction will be reversed.
  • Non-loyalty transactions could be eligible for dynamic coupons based on the transaction rules.
  • As loyalty points are not applicable for non-loyalty and not-interested transactions, there will not be any points involvement.
  • Exchange without Reference: These are the mixed transactions without the reference invoices (Previous sales invoice). A retail system can either allow a new invoice number or can do it on the existing invoice number. As there is no reference to transactions of return items, loyalty points will not be reversed.
  • For loyalty transactions, as no reference to the original transaction is provided, loyalty points will not be reversed.
  • For other transaction types, points are not applicable.
